The Truth About Why I Write For A Content Mill

First I tell you all that I use Upwork to find work and now I’m confessing to writing for a content mill! Am I a naive, exploited fool? Worse than Hitler? The Antichrist? You be the judge.

As you’ll know from my recent piece about Upwork I’m a new writer. You’ll probably guess without reading it from the beginner quality of my work. I’m trying though. With each piece and each job I’m getting a tiny bit better. I’m combining practical experience with the many wonderful articles on how to be a better writer here on Medium. If I keep plugging away I know I’ll get there in the end.

What do freelancers say about content mills?

I am a researcher at heart. If I’m going to do anything in life I always research it to death first. New tv? Research. Picking a new restaurant to try? Research. Starting a writing career? Research, Research, Research! I read all about the pros and cons of Upwork before I started using it and I did the same about content mills. Well, I say pros and cons but few writers have anything good to say about them. They are compared to Chinese sweatshops or Dickensian workhouses.
