Fair enough, I take your point. The things I listed aren’t something people can change. However I do take exception to the traditional, it’s all your fault it’s easy to change dogma. The fact is that a person’s weight is affected by far more than calories in calories out and to say otherwise is just plain wrong.

For example, multiple analyses have shown that people in poorer areas are traditionally heavier than those in more well off ones. This difference is thought to be due to food anxiety, lack of time to cook, lack of access to fresh fruits and vegetables, etc.

Weight loss has been shown to be very difficult to sustain long-term it diet companies have a large financial interest in keeping us trying. Believe me I have done a huge amount of reading around this topic, have you?

At no time was I saying my experience of the experience of any fat people was the same as a person with a disability or a person or colour. Believe it or not, I was advocating for total equality for everyone regardless of what makes them difference. Abuse, discrimination and poor treatment of others because they are different is ALWAYS wrong.

I do not have “a social media echo chamber” That’s what many people who see wall-to-wall thin white women have. I have a glorious range of beautiful people of all shapes and sizes and I value them all.

Finally, the point of this article is about people who are daily subjected to judgement, bias and often outright abuse learning to love themselves. I refuse to apologise for doing that.
